ABC. Architettura come bene comune. un presente spostato leggermente in avanti

aprile 27th, 2012

ABC. Architettura come bene comune.

misurare la temperatura del reale (non solo come lo vorremmo, ma sopratutto per quello che è), un atlante del reale, la redazione di una nuova geografia emozionale e istantanea che risponda ai contenuti delle ricerche in campo, degli architetti, delle architetture, come a quelle dei cittadini, degli utenti, oggi meglio degli stakeolder;

H2.0 Shelter Neodimentional space, PAV, Turin 2011

gennaio 16th, 2012

Architectural design competition, whit G.Stampone (solstizio project)  [PDF version]

[more pictures]

The idea is to create a shelter – canopy, which “marks” a portion of the park, and topically physically connected to the existent PAV of Turin and to the digital space of the web: an elementary a place, a “vacuum” to be filled with human contents and activities. The space is conceived as structure in strong relation with water : a primary element, essential, narrative, a cyclic and continuous presence, which collected and conveyed through a designed system, feeds vegetal elements, expressing an archetypal and primitive vitality among human activities. The water is the fluid element, the connector which describes an augmented human activity. The work concerns a real space, as habitat. A cognitive, connective, tactile, architecture, that creates a set of dynamic relationships that eliminate the dictatorship of the passive spectator, transforming him into an interactive subject. The main issue of the proposal seeks to formalize is to imagine an extension- not only phisical- of the human activity. The ” neodimensional space”, that starting frome the planned activities by the istitution of PAV, allows , within the digital extension, to connect to and interact people from different contents. Music Hall, Acilia (Roma) 2011

international architectural design competition [PDF version]

1 Urban concept- Pavillion and park. The new auditorium concludes the series of public buildings located on the green platform of the area. The proposal is a “pavilion in the park,” which is placed on a natural “podium” along the ground.

2 Architecturall concept – Lute and theca. The auditorium’s proposal combines technical and acoustic requirements with a symbolic form of the public building. The room – a musical instrument -has a specific form; it is isolated and protected by a transparent box, which includes the space of continuous access, parking and meetings.

3 Acoustic concept- Hull and sounding board. The shape of the room and systems for the acoustic control has been set on:- a) A verify of an optimal and flexible form based on the recognition of auditorium prevailing morphological recurrences, – b)Principle of distinction between structural form of protection (shell) and form of the room (soundboard). This allows the control and improvement of technical requirements, through devices that define the space of the room; it depends both from the volume and surface potential absorption coefficients; it considers the time of reverberation and geometry of visual as the basic parameters.

4 Energy / Environmental Concept – Collectors and sunscreen. The building is defined by a compact and simple form – the theca – which represents the system of hall protection. The vertical transparent enclosure captures and filters the daylight for the foyer spaces. The solar collector is the flat roof which can host the photovoltaic system; it helps to meet the energy needs of the “auditorium hall”. Read the rest of this entry »

Usi – Supsi Campus Lugano, 2011

International architectural design competition [PDF version]

The urban system, defined by the project, is articulated through three buildings: the theca, the USI building and the Supsi building, linked by the definition of public green spaces. The morphological articulation of the project has been structured on the optimization of day-lighting and the sunshine of volumes, maintaining continuity with the urban tissue; this is made of buildings of different densities on plots which rarely exceed the size of the block; the attempt has been to avoid the creation of a macro block, with volumes that changes the “scale” of this part of city. The functional organization of the three volumes includes: the location of USI building along the street La Santa and close to the existing building, already devoted to the same function; the theca building which host the public and common functions shared by the two schools and is located in a central position along a green corridor of the Cassarate river; the SUPSI building is located in an eastern area , leaving an empty void which could host a further extension. The proposal is conceived to be clear and to sustain the future extensions, without changing its morphological principle. Read the rest of this entry »

The project involves the extension of the Plasmon-Heinz industrial factory in Latina, a manufacturer of baby food. The plant, built around the 60s, has been designed and built according to principles of “modular design”, typical of the building production based on industrial systems. The extension consists of two distinct realizations: one houses the manufacturing and packaging of a new food product; its architectural and structural form replies the the whole industrial system; the other consists of a building services and a canopy which instead are designed as new architectural features, energy-environmental sustainable, and tries to evidence the new intervention .The building of the new production line, corresponds to a single building of 8 structural modules similar in type and morphology to those already existing, inside which the machines and the fittings for production and packaging are lodged. The realization of the services building consists in a one level flat roof building. The space is organized symmetrically along the dividing wall between the two departments: the entrance is in a direct way to the main dressing room, this leads to the block of toilets and the rooms intended for the break and refreshment. The access to units is achieved through two different connective areas within which are arranged sterilization systems. The building facades are covered with a single type of translucent system, loose from the building structure level and placed vertically in front of the surface of the opaque cladding.

Interaction and exhibit design [PDF version]

Thinking the “Festa dell’architettura” as a cross-medial event, means to imagine the city behind its physical dimension and extension; the multiplicity of contributions and simultaneity of events require a specific form, through different media, able to reach a wide range of users. This project includes typical and innovative elements for the exhibition. First element is the community, which can choose a custom path of participation, exploring the web, the social network and the blog. The exhibition in the spaces of Pelanda in the ex slaughterhouse of Testaccio,  has been thought as a catalyst of the events hosted, with two special spaces devoted to new ways of interaction provoked by the new media: the Performing Media Lounge, which focuses in the network the topics and issues developed in the discussions; The Hub Roma, which explores the co-working activity on the topics of the Festa.

Interaction and exhibit design [PDF version]

The fast development of new media and the web.2.0 era in the communication and interaction fields, seems to overview new possibilities for deeply changing the contemporary city. Traditional instruments and tools of design and description of the cities are unable to reach the complexity and rapidity of global dimension. The idea of “Atlas of visions” wants to contribute to change the point of view of the perception of worldwide data: thus, leaving the conceptual perception a typically “conceptual” approach proper of modern culture, in favor of an emotional perception. A liquid a shared mapping, an emotional geography, which collect the  human history. Atlas of Rome is a project realized within the space of ex slaughterhouse in Testaccio , during the “Festa dell’architettura 2010” in Rome “Index urbis”; it is realized by a multiprojection on a 35×4 meters screen, with an interactive info-visualization which describes a multiple visions on Rome about “The imagination of architects and the real city”. Atlas of Rome suggests a new interpretation of map, not only as description of a physical landscape, but also as a “scape” realized of immaterial relationships among subjects who live into. Throught touch-screens, user can surf within this interface discovering medial and visual contents. Read the rest of this entry »
